In Leah's own words:
"There was an old woman who lived in a shoe..."
The inspiration for this Shoe Dollhouse was found in a book by Sally Mavor called "Pocketful of Posies: A Treasury of Nursery Rhymes", which I have included with the Shoe.
Once I decided to make the old woman and her shoe the biggest challenge was deciding how many children were too many? I went with seven, but admit there were days that one child felt like too many. I made every thing by hand from the shoe to the people and all their stuff. I did not make the teeny tiny silverware and a couple of the small plastic pots, but the rest was me which is evident under close scrutiny.
I also designed a custom carry bag so everything can be tucked away when play is done.
This project represents hundreds of hours of work and over $100 in glue alone (no joke). By the time I was done I'd become so attached to my little people and their and their home I almost wanted to keep it for myself! I hope the auction winner will have as much fun with this project as I had creating it.
VERY IMPORTANT This is not a toy for small children. It is almost in it's entirety, a choking hazard and the pieces are small and fragile. Perhaps it may be suitable for ages 6 and up.
